Screen Point Blank

Having experienced quite a few immersive theatre performance before, Vincent Ergo proves to be one of the more inspired ones with utmost attention being paid to detail and a commitment to enabling the audience to have a great time while roaming through the set, e.g. by enabling them to enjoy some of van Gogh’s more prominent paintings through visuals and projections, without solely relying on the performances.

107 Projects in Redfern is open to theatregoers in Vincent Ergo, a new immersive work about the life and struggles of painter Vincent Van Gogh. Beginning in the bar, transformed into the night cafe Van Gogh painted, we follow actors from space to space, into offices and up and down stairs, the story as part of our bodies as we follow Van Gogh (Harry Taylor) towards his inevitable death.

Being of a curious nature and having had some readers respond with questions about a news article I put up about Vincent Ergo, it seemed logical to go straight to the source. This is an immersive theatre experience produced by a husband-and-wife team, Nita and Philip Wolf and they were very generous with their time as we met for a power breakfast in Redfern not far from the theatre.
